Overview

Learning about the Merit Promotion Process is just one step in mastering your abilities as a staffing specialist – the key is being able to apply those principles on the job. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll use what you learned about merit promotion selection activities in our Introduction to Selection Activities in the Merit Promotion Process to typical General Scheduled (GS) and Federal Wage System (FWS) hiring scenarios. In this course, you’ll briefly review key concepts before completing selection activities with guidance and feedback from instructors.

Through practical application with instructor feedback, you’ll validate your skills in conducting selection activities in the Merit Promotion Process. You’ll be evaluated on your ability to:

  • Screen and processing applications
  • Qualify applicants
  • Create the certificate list of eligibles
  • Notify applicants
  • Discuss compensations and benefits
  • Audit completed hiring packages

Who Should Attend

Staffing specialists at GS levels 7-9.

Prerequisites

We recommend you attend SS122: Introduction to Selection Activities in the Merit Promotion Process before attending this course.
